David Mortenson

Mortenson Company Chairman David Mortenson will kick off the spring 2018 season of the Carlson School of Management’s 1st Tuesday Speaker Series on February 6.

As usual, the lunch event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the McNamara Alumni Center. Purchase tickets or tables online. Season passes are also available.

Mortenson leads a business that specializes in everything from sports stadiums to hospitals, research institutions, and data centers. The Minneapolis-headquartered, privately held international diversified construction organization is currently ranked the 18th-largest contractor by Engineering News-Record, with over 5,000 team members in 12 North American offices.

Mortenson is the largest design builder of wind and solar energy in North America and has been the largest developer and largest builder in Minnesota over the past three years.

Mortenson joined the family business in 1991 after serving as the Combat Information Center Officer on board the USS Hewitt. He undertook the company’s first international design-build project for Seagate Technology in Northern Ireland and was project director during the construction of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. He led the company’s West Coast business for six years before returning to Minneapolis in 2007.
