Minnesota Carlson Faculty Promotions 2026

This year, three Minnesota Carlson faculty members earned promotions, which will take effect in August. These career milestones are a culmination of their dedication to research and scholarship at Minnesota Carlson and the University of Minnesota.

Promotion to Full Professor

Alan Benson

Alan Benson, Work and Organizations

Alan received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and joined Minnesota Carlson in 2013 as an assistant professor. He was promoted to associate professor with tenure in 2021. He is known for his research in the field of personnel and organizational economics and his “insider econometrics” approach, where he works with organizations to leverage large-scale data on employees within organizations.

 

 

Promotion to Associate Professor with Tenure

Kartik Ganju

Kartik Ganju, Information & Decision Sciences

Kartik received his PhD in 2016 from Temple University. He joined Minnesota Carlson in 2021 as an assistant professor in the Information & Decision Sciences Department following a five-year post as an assistant professor at McGill University. He has developed a reputation as a productive scholar on the impact of information systems in the healthcare context. His work reveals intended and unintended consequences of technology adoption.

 

 

Yicheng Song

Yicheng Song, Information and Decision Sciences

Yicheng received his PhD in Information Systems in 2017 from Boston University. He also holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Science. He joined Minnesota Carlson in 2017 as an assistant professor in the Information & Decision Sciences Department. He has developed a reputation as a leading scholar in the area of personalization and recommender system design and their application for business problems.
