University of Minnesota Director of Athletics Mark Coyle will share insights from his first year on the job at April’s 1st Tuesday Speaker Series session. The April 4 event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the McNamara Alumni Center. Tickets are available for $35 ($15 for U of M students), which covers lunch and the program.
Coyle, who took the helm of Gopher athletics last spring, previously led the athletic departments at Syracuse University and Boise State University. His resume also includes stints as deputy athletics director at the University of Kentucky and associate athletic director for external relations at the U, where he managed the marketing and sales unit, athletic communications, the ticket office and licensing from 2001–2005.
In his role as director of athletics, he fosters leadership, integrity, and academic achievement among student-athletes, while overseeing the financial, business, marketing, and communications strategies for the department.
Coyle played football at Drake University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English in 1991. He also holds master’s degrees in teaching from Drake and in sports administration from Florida State University.
