Carlson School’s Team eXcelsior (Kwen Cheng, Amanda Evans, Ariel Yu, and Star [Yu] Zhang) won first place and $1,400 at the Travelers MIS Case Competition on Friday, November 7. The team presented an application of the Internet of Things to create business value for Travelers' Workmen's Compensation business.
Team S&S International (Sam Bagley, Teja Choudhary, and Spencer Price) also competed and presented a proposal focused on creating value for Travelers’ CyberSecurity line through a three-factor authentication portfolio.
“We are always delighted to compete against our traditional Travelers’ nemesis: U Conn, which took second place,” says Corrie Fiedler, one of the team coaches along with Ken Reilly. “The level of competition continues to improve. Other universities are presenting in a more Carlson School-like style, which raises the bar for all of us.”
This case competition was a warmup match for the teams that will represent the Carlson School at CaseIT in Vancouver next February, CoMIS in Minneapolis in March, and APEX in Singapore in May.
