What was your first job?

My first real job was playing baseball. It taught me the importance of teamwork, discipline, and mastering the fundamentals.

What excites you about the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx organization?

I’m excited about the endless possibilities and the culture we’re building. We have a strong leadership team, incredible players, and a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the Minnesota community.

What’s a trait you value most in a leader?

Consistency. Great leaders set the standard and live it every day.

What’s a lesson from school you still apply today?

Preparation is everything. There’s never a Broadway show that goes on stage without a rehearsal, so why would we approach meetings or big events any differently? The work you put in beforehand often makes all the difference in the outcome.

What advice would you give students pursuing careers in business?

Always work hard, stay curious, and keep learning. Surround yourself with the best people. You are, as I always say, a byproduct of the five people you spend the most time with.

What was your first job?

After graduating from West Point, I was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the US Army.

What about the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx organization excites you?

I was excited about new ownership that is committed to winning and transforming the local community. We have a strong foundation on the basketball side, and I look forward to growing the business side.

What’s a trait you value in a leader?

Authenticity. It's important to leverage your strengths and be vulnerable and honest about your weaknesses — people will respect that and will follow you anywhere.

What’s a lesson from school you still use today?

Pressure is a privilege. And the best way to perform under pressure is to prepare relentlessly.

What’s your top advice for students pursuing careers in business?

Take difficult classes in business school and make sure you master accounting, as every businessperson has to understand the financials of a company. Then recruit for an industry/company where you believe your skills are irreplaceable.
