I'm a veteran myself, so it's great to have connection to people who've been in the military. You get people from all walks of life. You get people who are in the medical field. We have people from Boston Scientific and Medtronic. We also have people from the National Guard. I'm from General Mills. When you look at the wide range of degrees the cohorts have, it's really fun to see how big your network can grow.
"My military background influenced me as a student in some positive ways. For example, I approach tasks more methodically. When faced with a challenge, my nature is to meet it head-on. I often use words like target, mission, and objective when describing schoolwork. Every assignment has an end goal, and having this mental window allows me to be successful as a student, full-time employee, husband, and father of three."
After 20+ years in the military, including a 2-year deployment in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Jason Lee, '22 MS SCM, transitioned to logistics with Minnesota’s Army National Guard, managing 50+ personnel and $261M in assets. Seeking to bridge military and civilian supply chain expertise, he joined Carlson, where he quickly found a strong veteran community.
