Carlson School International Experience Highlighted in Poets & Quants Ranking

In its inaugural list of the 50 best undergraduate business programs in the United States, Poets & Quants selected the Carlson School of Management Undergraduate Program for the 12th spot. In addition, the school placed fifth on a list ranking the top 10 schools for academic experience, citing the international experience requirement as a key factor in the high ranking. Doctorate of Business Administration with China's Tsinghua University Launched

In February 2017, the University of Minnesota Board of Regents approved a new Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) program. The degree will be conferred by the Carlson School in partnership with Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

The 56-credit, cohort-based DBA program is an applied, professional doctoral program directed at high-level executives working in China and the surrounding region.

The new offering expands the Carlson School's off-shore degree offerings in an important economy. According to Associate Dean of Global Initiatives, Michael Houston, "The DBA program expands our footprint in China through a partnership with one of the top business schools in China. This program will provide the Carlson School with the opportunity to connect with important business executives from the region."

Carlson School Assistant Dean of Global Initiatives Receives Distinguished Award for Global Engagement

Anne D'Angelo, Assistant Dean of the Carlson Global Institute, has been selected as a recipient of the University of Minnesota's 2016 Distinguished Award for Global Engagement. This award, coordinated by the Global Programs and Strategy Alliance, is given to select faculty and staff in recognition of their outstanding contributions to global education, global competency, and international programs at the University. Food Provides a Bridge Across Cultures

Food is an important context for global and cross-cultural understanding. It is both global, as it is consumed worldwide, yet local, as there are significant variation in food across countries and cultures. The Fall Carlson School alumni magazine featured the various ways that food helps Carlson School faculty, staff, and students encounter culture. Read the stories.

China EMBA Alumni Provide Insights to Visiting MBA Class

20 Carlson School MBA students traveled to China in January working on a live company sponsored project through the Global Business Practicum course. While in Shanghai the students, along with their project teammates from Lingnan (University) College, had an opportunity to meet with two China Executive MBA (CHEMBA) alumni, Jordan Sun, '08, and Jacky Liu, '07, who shared their experiences and perspectives on Chinese consumers.   

Global Matters: Two New Videos Posted to YouTube Channel

Two new videos have been added to the Global Matters playlist on YouTube. The playlist is a series of short videos highlighting academics, practitioners, and thought leaders sharing their insights on a variety of global business topics.

The most recent additions feature Carlson School Associate Professor of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship Gurneeta Vasudeva Singh and her research findings.

This event brings together the lead NAFTA negotiators from the U.S. (Carla Hills), Canada (John Weekes), and Mexico (Jaime Serra Puche) for a panel discussion about the future of regional trade and NAFTA. The panel will be moderated by Tim Kehoe, Distinguished McKnight Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Minnesota.
