Anant Mishra
About
Anant Mishra is the Andrew Van de Ven Professor in Supply Chain and Operations at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. His research focuses on contemporary challenges in innovation, public sector operations, public health supply chains, and emerging market operations. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production & Operations Management, and the Journal of Operations Management.
Anant currently serves as Department Editor for the Innovation and Project Management department at the Journal of Operations Management and the Product and Process Innovation department at the Decision Sciences Journal. He has also served as the Senior Editor at Production and Operations Management and regularly reviews for Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and Production and Operations Management.
Anant has worked with and advised several companies on supply chain challenges spanning sourcing, production, distribution, and analytics. These companies include Best Buy, Bühler Industries, Cafe Imports, Emerson Electric, General Mills, Heraeus, Len Busch Roses, Lutron Electronics, Medtronic, Polaris, Seeonic, Stratasys, Tokyo Electron, and Winnebago Industries. His teaching portfolio includes Executive MBA, MBA, and Undergraduate courses in Supply Chain and Operations, Strategic Sourcing, Project Management, and Business Statistics, as well as custom executive education courses for corporate partners.
Anant's academic contributions have been recognized through multiple teaching and research awards. On the teaching front, he has received the Curtis Cup for Excellence in Teaching in the Carlson Executive MBA Program (2024, 2023), the Carlson School of Management Outstanding Teaching Award (2022), and the Masters in Supply Chain Management Teacher of the Year Award (2024, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019). On the research front, he has been recognized through the Production and Operations Management Society Healthcare Operations Management Best Paper Award (2024), MSOM Meritorious Service Award (2023, 2022), Carlson School of Management Outstanding Research Award (2021), the 2016 Wickham Skinner Award for Best Published Paper in Production & Operations Management Journal, and finalist recognition in the 2014 POMS Applied Research Competition.
Earlier in his career, he received the 2010 INFORMS Technology Management Section Best Doctoral Dissertation Award, and an Honorable Mention in the 2010 Elwood Buffa Doctoral Dissertation competition.
