Susanna Gibbons, CFA, Managing Director, Carlson Funds Enterprise

Susanna previously was a Senior Portfolio Manager at RBC Global Asset Management, and lead the group’s fixed income Credit Research Team. Susanna’s primary research responsibilities included banking and finance. She has extensive capital markets experience. Susanna joined RBC GAM in 2007 from Jeffrey Slocum & Associates, where she was the director of fixed income research. She also held several senior credit and portfolio management positions at The St. Paul Companies. Susanna began her career in the investment industry in 1985. She earned a BA from Bryn Mawr College and an MBA in Finance from the New York University Stern School of Business. Susanna is a CFA charterholder.

Kelley Vanda, Program/Project Specialist

Kelley Vanda is the Program/Project Specialist for the Carlson Funds Enterprise (CFE). She helps keep the program organized by supporting Managing Director Susanna Gibbons and other CFE faculty with administrative and project support. She previously was an administrative assistant in finance for Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. in New Brighton. She has a BS in communication with an emphasis in public relations from the University of North Florida.

Madelyn Jesser, Accountant, Carlson Funds Enterprise

Maddie Jesser is currently a junior at the Carlson School studying accounting and finance. Her roles as the Accountant include producing month-end accounting statements, inputting data into KPMG Investall software to generate monthly investor reports, and serving as a point of contact for investors and KPMG staff. Maddie has spent the past two summers at Deloitte, including the Pioneer Internship in 2016 and the Discovery Internship in 2017, and she will return in 2018 as an International Tax Intern. She also represents the Carlson School as a Carlson Ambassador and mentors ten students through Carlson Crew.



Rick Nelson, Senior Lecturer

Rick Nelson is a Senior Lecturer in Finance and Director of Undergraduate Finance Programs, Department of Finance, Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota.  He joined the Carlson School of Management faculty in 1997 and has over fifteen years of experience teaching numerous International, Executive MBA, MBA, Undergraduate and Executive Education courses in Finance. Prior to joining the Carlson School of Management, Mr. Nelson held various senior management positions at companies such as ReliaStar Financial (now ING), MTS Systems Corp, and Lerch Brothers Inc. He received his BSB and MBA from the Carlson School of Management.

Tim Nantell, Professor

Timothy Nantell has worked at the University of Minnesota since 1983 and has held numerous positions with the Carlson School such as: Acting Dean, Associate Dean of Faculty, Finance Department Chairperson, and Faculty Director of the MBA Program.  He also helped found the Carlson Funds Enterprise. His current research and teaching interests concern valuation models and their application. Tim earned his BA in Mathematics, MBA in Finance, and PHD in Finance from the University of Wisconsin.
