Work and Organizations Faculty
The Work and Organizations faculty are recognized leaders in their respective areas of expertise including Organizational Behavior, Human Resources, and Labor and Organizational Economics; hold leadership positions in major professional associations in their fields (e.g., Academy of Management, and Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology); and serve in editorial positions at a number of top-tier journals.
Avner Ben-Ner studies how organizations are designed and how they perform in relationship to ownership type, workforce composition, technology and other variables. He also investigates individual and group behavior relative to social preferences and cognition. His work spans theory and empirics, using a variety of methods and data sources.
John W. Budd (he/him) is a Professor of Work and Organizations in the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, where he holds the Industrial Relations Land Grant Chair. He is a graduate of Colgate University and earned a Ph.D. degree in economics from Princeton University.
Michelle K. Duffy is the Vernon Heath Chair, in the department of Work and Organizations in the Carlson School of Management. She has a PhD in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management from the University of Arkansas and a Master's in Psychology from Xavier University.
Colleen Flaherty Manchester, PhD, is a Professor in the Work and Organizations department and Board of Overseers Professor at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. She completed her PhD in economics from Stanford University, with a specialization in labor economics and public finance. She also received her B.A. in both public policy and economics from Stanford University.
Theresa M. Glomb is the Toro Company-David M. Lilly Chair in the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. She received her Ph.D. and A.M. in social, organizational, and individual differences psychology from the University of Illinois in 1998 and her B.A. in psychology from DePaul University in 1993.
Priti Pradhan Shah is an Associate Professor in the Department of Work and Organizations at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. Her primary research areas are Social Networks, Teams and Decision-Making.
Connie Wanberg is a Professor and Industrial Relations Faculty Excellence Chair in the Work and Organizations Department at the Carlson School of Management. In her role as an educator, she teaches classes involving human resources management, leadership, industrial/organizational psychology, and organizational behavior.
Dr. Zellmer-Bruhn is Professor of Organizational Behavior and Chair of the Work and Organizations Department of the Carlson School of Management. She received a bachelor's degree in marketing, a master's degree in management, and a Ph.D. in organizational behavior, all from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She joined the Carlson School of Management in 1999.
Le (Betty) Zhou is an associate professor in the Department of Work and Organizations and a Lawrence Fellow in the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Betty received her Ph.D. in Management at the University of Florida in 2014. She has an M.S. in Organizational Psychology from the University of Maryland and a B.S. in Psychology from Peking University (China).

Larry Bourgerie is a Senior Lecturer, Work & Organizations, Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. Professor Bourgerie is a dedicated, energetic educator and HR professional with over 25 years of experience in HR and 15 years in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Stacy Doepner-Hove is the Director of the Master's Program in Human Resources and Industrial Relations at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. In this position, she is charged with overall program development and management for the master's degree.
Bob is a Senior Partner with Aon Hewitt (The consulting division of Aon Corporation). Bob has been working in Employee Benefits since 1980. His special area of expertise is retirement benefits, but his expertise extends into all employee benefits. During the course of his career Bob has worked with more than 50 large employers, more than half of those are Fortune 500 Companies, and many have
Amy has been a labor educator at the Labor Education Service since 2015. She has taught classes on a wide range of topics for union members and other workers, including steward trainings and courses on collective bargaining, grievance handling/contract enforcement, labor history, labor law, union leadership, and internal organizing.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Carol Berg O'Toole has wide experience as a lawyer, lecturer, personnel director and labor negotiator. Her legal representation has included negotiating with labor unions and representing counties, school districts, cities, other public agencies, private companies and individuals.
Mr. Ronza is President of the Pontifex Consulting Group. He has over thirty years of experience in health care, banking, higher education, government and as a consultant for a variety of industries. He also has been called upon as a resource based on his expertise by print and video media (NBC Nightly News, Wall Street Journal, US News & World Report).
Brandon Sullivan, PhD, is a Sr. Lecturer in the Work and Organizations Department in the Carlson School of Management. He is also Sr. Director of Leadership and Talent Development for the University of Minnesota (https://humanresources.umn.edu/leadership-talent-development/ltd-team).
Kevin Wilde currently serves as an Executive Leadership Fellow at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. He teaches applied leadership in a number of graduate courses. His current research topics include leadership coachability, executive derailment and contemporary talent development.
