Finance Specializations Overview

The coursework in the Carlson School’s MS in Finance program can be tailored to meet your professional needs and interests. You can pursue a wide variety of electives to develop functional expertise in a career sector that interests you. The specializations share 31 credits of required courses and differ in eight credits of electives.

No, you do not need to apply for a specific specialization. The application round deadlines and admissions decision release dates are the same as those for the MS in Finance program. Review application deadlines.

Students do not need to "declare" a specialization up front.  As students move through the program, they will choose electives in their area of interest. Some students will opt to focus elective credits in one particular specialization area, while others may choose electives that cover various areas of finance.
