Congratulations on being admitted to the Full-Time MBA Program! We are excited to welcome you to the University of Minnesota and look forward to introducing you to the Twin Cities. Please complete the next five steps for International students, starting here, and then return to the Full-Time MBA Welcome pages to complete your student account activation.

1. I-20 Form and Visa

Complete and return your MBA PDF iconFinancial Certification Statement (154.82 KB)(included in your Admissions packet). This form must be completed by all international students and returned in order to be issued an I-20 form for a student visa. Depending on circumstances and the country in which you currently reside it can take several months to obtain a student visa, so it is important to begin the application process as early as possible. To stay up-to-date on U.S. immigration and visa policy updates, review the Graduate Management Admission Council's immigration page for updates.

Please contact Tracy Keeling to let us know if you are changing from a non-student visa to a student visa. Students will need to have visa changes completed before the end of the first week of the Fall term, Sepember 4, 2018, in order to begin the program.

2. Immunization

Visit Boynton Health Services for immunization and TB documentation. While at Boynton Health Service visit the Student Health Benefits Office, to check on coverage dates for fall semester and to find out more about your coverage.

3. Immigration Check-In

Visit the ISSS Office in room 190 at the Humphrey building for a document check. All new international students have an ISSS hold. The University is required to maintain a file with information about the legal status of each international student at the University. ISSS will remove this hold temporarily after photocopying your passport, entry visa, I-20, or DS02019, and I-94 card, in addition to examining these documents to check for any possible problems with your legal status.

Students need to complete an International Student Preparation Course and attend an Immigration Check-In prior to hold removal. For more information, visit ISSS's new student website.

4. U Card

You'll need a valid MN Driver's Licensestate ID card or passport to pick up your U Card. The state ID is an alternative form of identification for those who do not plan to drive in the US. If you know how to drive a car, we suggest you get a driver's license instead.

Visit the University's ID card office, prior to MBA Launch, to get your official University photo identification card (U Card). The U Card can be used for access to breakout rooms, borrowing books at the library, using vending machines, and obtaining discounts to sporting events. It is required for Full-Time MBA students to have a valid U Card.

5. Registration

Email the Registration & Advising team at once your holds have been removed so that she may register you for classes.

Thank you for completing our International Student requirements section. Please return to the Full-Time MBA Welcome page and complete steps 2 - 7 in order to finalize your student status.
