Women’s Community
Purpose
At Carlson, we want to create and sustain an inclusive environment where we empower women in business. We do this through GWIB, Forté Fellowships, and other events and opportunities that create a space for women to gather, network, and grow together.
Our Women’s Presence
Women's Community
The Graduate Women in Business Club aims to empower graduate women in business, to propel more women into leadership positions, and to enhance diversity in the workplace. Learning Lunches and Real Talks provide space for engaging conversations with classmates, professors, alumni, and business leaders on topics such as women in a male-dominated industry, giving and receiving feedback, living a happy life, and parenting. GWIB also supports the Men as Allies Initiative.
Our mission is to provide MBA women with a community -- both within and beyond Carlson -- to be strong business leaders. GWIB empowers women to transform shared experiences into action through informal and formal events, including networking opportunities and professional and personal development.
The Forté Foundation partners with a broad range of forward thinking business schools, corporations, executive education programs, universities and nonprofit organizations who support their goal of increasing the number of women in business. As a Forte partner school we award Forte Fellowships each year to all our female students, send students to the Forte Annual Conference and provide resources to our female students from the Forte Foundation to help support community building among our women students.
The Carlson Women Global Connect alumni affinity network at the Carlson School seeks to foster a culture of lifelong engagement and build a community of alumni dedicated to helping one another succeed. The network provides opportunities for alumni to network, engage in lifelong learning, connect with current students, and advance their careers, all while supporting one another.
Outside of GWIB and Forte, there are additional events and networking opportunities for women at Carlson. Student Affairs hosts a Women’s Affinity Networking Night to connect with prospective students, current students, and alumni; Women, Wine, & Wisdom is hosted by our Part-Time Women’s Club and open to all current students; and other organizations host women-specific events to expose students to women working in various industries. We also connect with our alumni through the Carlson Women’s Global Connect (alumni) and our undergrads through Women in Business (WIB).
