I graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in Political Science and an eye toward law school in the future. After college, I started in a Sales role at General Mills, Inc., and found myself falling in love with business.

My Story

I graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in Political Science and an eye toward law school in the future. After college, I started in a Sales role at General Mills, Inc., and found myself falling in love with business. I soon found that my heart was in marketing and worked to move into a Shopper Marketing role, where I helped retail customers execute custom marketing programs. Shopper Marketing was incredibly educational but I found myself eager to have the full "brand marketing" experience and landed a Marketing Communications role with Cheerios. I loved everything about my time working on Cheerios, and it helped me realize that I wanted to do more than just communications. I really wanted to own a brand. This led me to business school, and I'm so glad it did.

Why Carlson?

Because I knew my passion was marketing, I wanted a program with a strong marketing focus and ties to marketing employers. I truly wanted to deepen my understanding of marketing by doing it. The Carlson Brand Enterprise was exactly the type of experiential-learning opportunity I was seeking. In addition to the marketing exposure, I was excited by Carlson's small program size. I didn't want to be just another number in a sea of students. I was eager to build valuable relationships with my classmates, faculty, and program staff. Carlson has more than lived up to all of these hopes. It has been the best decision of my life.

Overall Experience as a Carlson MBA Student

In my first year at Carlson, I have grown more than I ever thought possible. Beyond giving me an exceptional academic base of relevant knowledge, this program and its people have made me braver. I've been empowered to reach for the best marketing internships I could find, knowing I had the support of my community of classmates but also the incredible MBA program team who spend their days supporting us. I am so thankful for this MBA experience and for the people I've had the opportunity to meet. My work is better because of them; I am better because of them. I can't imagine spending these two years anywhere else.
