Money Talks: Economic Literacy for the Next Generation

Session Track: Surge with Savvy

Given long-standing gender disparity in pay and income, it is crucial that women gain a sense of economic justice so that they can better understand and assert rights relevant not only to their own economic well-being, but also the economic wellbeing of all girls and women, their families, their communities, their country, and their world. This session will explore how to support economic literacy for young women and girls and consider the implicit and explicit financial messages we receive and send. Participants will examine the effects early experiences with money have on attitudes and behaviors and will later articulate their vision for the economic future of women and girls in their lives.
