Session Track: Surge and Soar

What matters and motivates you at work? Discover your individual career language and get the tools to ask for what you need in your career to stay happy and healthy in a job you love. In this session, you will learn about the five career languages and how these languages show up in your work, your drive, and your day-to-day communication. Most importantly, you should walk away with an understanding of your personal career language, which can add to fulfillment at work. For managers, you also will get insight into how to motivate team members based on their career language.

Maggie Tomas is an organizational leader with more than 15 years of experience, having worked as a director of career and student services, career counselor/coach, and faculty member. She currently leads the 13-person graduate career center team at the Carlson School, providing job search strategies for all Carlson School graduate students and connecting them with appropriate employers. Incredibly curious and high energy, Tomas is passionate about helping all clients, students, and alumni create a life that increases options and ultimately creates meaning. She is particularly interested in identifying career trends and engaging individuals and community groups. She believes wholeheartedly that all members of society should have the privilege of doing what they love.
