UMN Provost to Discuss 'The Value of the Liberal Arts' at Next First Tuesday

Karen Hanson will present at the next First Tuesday event on September 4.

Karen Hanson, University of Minnesota's provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs, will present "The Value of the Liberal Arts" at the next "1st Tuesday Speaker Series" on September 4 at 11:30 a.m. in the University of Minnesota's McNamara Alumni Center.

An alumna of the University of Minnesota, Hanson previously served as provost and executive vice president at the Bloomington campus of Indiana University from July 2007 to January 2012. In her current position, she oversees the colleges and academic units, and the policies and practices that affect the academic life of the University.

Hanson received her bachelor of arts degree, summa cum laude, in philosophy and mathematics from the University of Minnesota, and master's and doctoral degrees in philosophy from Harvard University.
