Sri Zaheer Named Interim Dean
Associate Dean of Faculty and Research to assume new role June 20.
University of Minnesota Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost E. Thomas Sullivan has appointed Sri Zaheer as Interim Dean of the Carlson School effective June 20, 2011. Zaheer currently serves as the school's Associate Dean of Faculty and Research.
"I am delighted with the Provost's appointment," says Dean Alison Davis-Blake. "I have the utmost confidence in Sri's abilities to effectively lead the school through the period of time until the 12th dean of the Carlson School is named."
According to Sullivan, selection of the Dean Search Committee will begin upon the arrival of President-designate Kaler on July 1.
Zaheer, the Elmer L. Andersen Chair in Global Corporate Social Responsibility, earned a PhD in International Management from the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a master's in business from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad. She was named a Fellow of the Academy of International Business, the highest honor in the field, in 2007, and is a Consulting Editor of the Journal of International Business Studies. She is a founding member of the International Academic Council of the Indian School of Business, set up by McKinsey, Kellogg, and Wharton in Hyderabad, India. Zaheer also serves as co-director of the Center for Integrative Leadership at the University of Minnesota.
