Elise Maxwell Named U Student Entrepreneur of the Year
At the recent Founder’s Day event, Elise Maxwell, ’16 MBA, was recognized as the 2016 University of Minnesota Student Entrepreneur of the Year. The award includes a $1,000 scholarship that was donated by Jim Mishek, the founder and retired CEO and chairman of Vista Technologies.
Maxwell is the founder of Ova Woman, an online community that has the goal of tackling women’s intimate health taboos by creating a safe space for conversation and supporting women in finding innovative health products. Ova Woman was the 2015 MN Cup Student Division winner.
Founder’s Day is an annual event celebrating student entrepreneurs. The 2016 event included presentations from 11 students in a broad range of entrepreneurship courses across the University, including the colleges of design, engineering, agriculture, music, nursing, genomics, and the environment.
