Carlson School Student Athlete Named Academic All-American
Paige Tapp, '17 BSB, has been named a Second Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The award marks the first Academic All-America honor for Tapp and the University of Minnesota's first since Cassie Busse in 2003. She is one of three individuals that hail from the Big Ten Conference, as she is joined by Haleigh Washington (Penn State) and Ashley Evans (Purdue). To be considered for the award, student-athletes must hold a 3.30 GPA or higher and see significant playing time for their respective team.
A marketing major, Tapp holds a 3.87 cumulative grade point average. A First Team All-District last season, she garnered her second All-America honor as a Golden Gopher after receiving third team laurels from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) as a sophomore last year.
On the court, Tapp plays middle blocker. She was named an All-North Region AVCA selection and an All-Big Ten honorable mention this season. Her hitting percentage ranked second among NCAA tournament competitors. On the year, Tapp ranks third on the team.
