The University of Minnesota is one of a number of universities that partner with Coursera, a company that offers massive open online courses (MOOCs) in numerous subjects. Last summer, Coursera put out a call for proposals for universities to develop specializations consisting of four MOOCs and a capstone. Two specializations from the Carlson School were accepted: Human Resource Management: HR for People Managers and Healthcare Marketplace.

Human Resource Management is meant for non-HR managers who have been promoting into positions with people management responsibilities and individuals exploring career possibilities in HR. Healthcare Marketplace is for managers either working in or aspiring to work in the healthcare market.

These MOOCs, along with many others, will be available worldwide via Coursera for the next few years. Each course consists of video lectures, ungraded practice quizzes, graded quizzes, and one or more peer-reviewed projects.
