Three Carlson School Undergraduates Are Candidates for 2010 Homecoming Royalty

Three Carlson School undergraduate students are candidates for 2010 Homecoming royalty. Maya Suresh and Mallory Darst are in the running for the Homecoming queen honor, and Henrique Akaishi is vying for the title of Homecoming king.

Voting for Homecoming king and queen will open on Friday, September 24 and will close at noon on Friday, October 1. Students, faculty, and staff may vote. For 2010 Homecoming details, visit homecoming.umn.edu

Queen candidates:

Maya Suresh, senior
Maya-Suresh.jpgMaya Suresh is a senior studying finance with minors in economics and Spanish. A native of Vadnais Heights, Minn., Suresh is a lifelong Gopher fan and is actively involved in many campus organizations, including the honors community and as a member of the University of Minnesota Student Legal Service Board. Suresh is thrilled to be given the opportunity to take part in this year's Homecoming and hopes to enjoy the experience with students, alumni, and all true Gophers at heart.

 

 

Mallory Darst, junior
Mallory-Darst.jpgOriginally from Oakdale, Minn., Mallory Darst is a junior majoring in marketing with a minor in mass communications. Her on campus activities have included being a community advisor in Territorial Hall, a mentor in the Carlson School's First Generation program, and serving as an executive for the student group, Truth in Business. This fall, she will be a Carlson Student ambassador. After studying abroad in Brisbane, Australia last fall, Darst is most excited to represent the U of M during her first Homecoming experience at TCF Bank Stadium.

 

King candidate:

Henrique Akaishi, junior
Henrique-Akaishi.jpgHenrique Akaishi is a junior majoring in finance and entrepreneurship. A native of Brookfield, Wis., Akaishi currently serves on the board of directors for University Student Legal Services and is the recruitment chair for Omega Nu Alpha fraternity. In addition, he is a retail marketing consultant for the Minnesota Daily and co-founder of SOTA Pride LLC. Akaishi is excited to see the campus buzzing with Gopher pride for the second Homecoming at TCF Bank Stadium.
