Gov. Tim Pawlenty has appointed Stephen Parente, the Carlson School's Minnesota Insurance Industry Professor of Health Finance and Director of the Medical Industry Leadership Institute (MILI), to a new task force on health care reform.
The task force, which was created by the legislature during the last session, will study how Minnesota will implement the federal health care bill.
The 14 members appointed by the governor include state agency representatives, leaders in health care organizations and health plans, labor and business community representatives, and experts in financing access and quality. The legislature will also name four members.
The task force will be chaired by Department of Human Services Commissioner Cal Ludeman and will issue its first report on in December.
