The Carlson MBA Program is one of six finalist business schools for the GMAC's Team MBA Service Award (2009-2010). This is the first time the Carlson MBA Program reached the finals for this award.
Team MBA is part of GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) and is the global initiative for community service by students in graduate management programs. Since GMAC launched Team MBA in 2005, hundreds of students, staff, and faculty from scores of schools have donated thousands of volunteer hours and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities and community organizations: more than $500,000 raised for charity and more than 25,000 volunteer hours as of 2009.
Team MBA hosts these annual service awards every year. For the 2010 award, we highlighted the work that Carlson MBAs performed for the local non-profit Neighborhood House, including the Charity Auction, Spare Change Challenge, and a pro bono consulting project the Graduate Volunteer Consultants (GVC) did. The students totaled 1,170 volunteer hours and collected nearly $18,000 in donations through these events and projects for Neighborhood House.
The winning school will be announced at the GMAC conference at the end of June. The other business graduate finalist schools are:
- Boston University, School of Management
- Chinese Europe International Business School, CEIBS
- Clemson University, College of Business and Behavior Science
- University of Pennsylvania, The Wharton School
- Wake Forest University, School of Business
