The Carlson Funds Enterprise (CFE) is overseen by an advisory board comprised of senior investment professionals in the Twin Cities. The advisory board meets three times per year to review the operations of the CFE.

Darci Doneff, Piper Jaffray
Darci Doneff is currently a managing director in the fixed income services department at Piper Jaffray. Prior to joining Piper Jaffray in 1995, Doneff was a managing director for Citigroup (formerly Smith Barney) for eight years. While at Citi, she served as the manager and head municipal trader and underwriter. At Piper Jaffray, Doneff manages a team of 34 fixed income professionals in the Municipal Trading, Underwriting and Sales Division. Doneff's team focuses on the marketing and distribution of new issue municipal debt throughout the country and in addition actively trades municipal securities both tax exempt and taxable in the secondary market. In 2009 her team successfully placed over 450 new issues totaling in excess of $8 billion par value. Doneff attended North Dakota State University, where she earned a degree in Agricultural Economics.

Matt joined The Leuthold Group in July of 2002, where he focuses on sales, marketing and client relationships with our institutional research clients. Matt previously worked as an Associate in Lehman Brothers' Private Client Services in Chicago from 2000 to 2002, where he focused on business development and client service for high net worth individuals and families. Matt received his MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, where he concentrated in Finance and is a 1994 graduate of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA, where he majored in Political Science and earned a commission as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy Reserve through the Naval ROTC.

James L. Hamalainen, Ameriprise Financial
Mr. Hamalainen joined Ameriprise Financial in 1991, working as a Financial Analyst. In 1995, he moved to the investment department and during his eight year tenure there worked as a quantitative analyst and a collateralized debt obligation analyst. From 2003-2006, he worked in the Treasury strategy group where he was Vice President of Finance. In 2006, he took a position in the company's asset management division, RiverSource Investments, as VP of Investment Management Analysis. In 2010, he became the corporate Treasurer for Ameriprise, continuing with responsibility for the company's investment portfolios, and adding responsibility for liquidity, capital, and enterprise risk management. He received a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of North Dakota and a B.S. in Biology from the University of Minnesota.

Jay Kiedrowski, Humphrey School of Public Affiars - University of Minnesota
Jay Kiedrowski is a senior fellow in the Public and Nonprofit Leadership Center at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. He teaches courses on public and nonprofit financial analysis and budgeting, organizational performance and change. Before coming to the University in 2004, Kiedrowski was the executive vice president for Wells Fargo and Company. He was responsible for leading institutional trust, institutional brokerage, and trust operations for the merged Northwest/Wells Fargo organization. Kiedrowski earned a B.S.M.E. in industrial engineering from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Arts from the University's School of Public Affairs. He also earned an Ed.D. from St. Mary's University of Minnesota.

David Kuplic, Advantus Capital Management
As Executive Vice President of Advantus, David co-leads the investment management of approximately $22 billion of client assets and is the Chief Investment Officer of Securian, Advantus's parent company. David has direct accountability for all of Securian's investments, as well as the asset management of all of Advantus's external insurance clients. Mark Simenstad, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans
Mark Simenstad, serves as Thrivent Financial for Lutherans vice president and head of fixed income funds and separate accounts. In this role, he oversees the investment management of all fixed income mutual funds and separate accounts. He held a variety of positions, including head of fixed income research and portfolio manager, before leaving the organization in 1993. He rejoined the organization in 1999 and assumed his new position in October of 2002. Before rejoining Thrivent Financial, Simenstad was employed by Investment Advisers Inc. as vice president and portfolio manager. He subsequently joined Voyageur Asset Management as chief investment officer. He received a bachelor's degree in economics from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., in 1981. He earned an MBA from the University of Minnesota in 1983.
