Education Abroad Program Finder

Explore your International Experience

Below are definitions to the terms you will see while using the program finder.

Academic Term: This is the term in which you will be taking classes and/or travel.

Program Models: These are the types of programs you can choose from for your international experience.

Instructor-Led Program (Global Enrichment)
A study abroad program typically led by a University of Minnesota instructor.

Each program has a course that runs during the semester (either full semester or A or B-term), and then travel occurs at the end during breaks (January, March-spring break, May).

Partner University Business Exchange (Global Immersion)
A program at a partner university where a student will take business classes in English directly at the university with students from around the world. Exchanges are very independent and immersive programs. The academic calendar may differ from the University of Minnesota.

Study Center (Global Immersion)
Study Center programs offer a semester or summer option with the support of a dedicated on-site staff to support UMN students on this program. Classes on these programs will feel like Carlson classes, and your classmates will mostly be UMN students and students from other US institutions. Many of these programs offer optional internships and the opportunity to take courses at a local university.

Education Abroad Office: There are two study abroad offices available to you as a Carlson student, the Carlson Global Institute (CGI) and the Learning Abroad Center (LAC). This program finder shows all CGI programs, and highlights LAC programs with a business focus.

CGI is the study abroad office for business students and all CGI programs have a business focus. The LAC is the university-wide study abroad office and services all undergraduate students at the UMN. Some programs at the LAC offer business classes, but not all. You can search all programs through the LAC on their program finder. Some programs are run in partnership between the two offices. These are labeled as joint programs in the program finder.
