Brian is a 12-year military veteran, including 11 years as an active duty Navy officer and is currently a Lieutenant Commander serving in the Naval Reserve. He received a BS from the United States Naval Academy in General Engineering. Brian has experience working as a Naval Flight Officer, and as a Supply Corps Officer, including significant time living overseas. He is currently seeking long-term opportunities within corporate finance.
Robert Foldes, Fixed Income Fund
Robert Foldes is currently a graduate student in Applied Mathematics and his research focuses on modeling the formation and growth of cavities in gel-type materials. Born in Minneapolis, he soon moved to Europe and mostly grew up in Luxembourg where he completed his undergraduate studies in Mathematics.
Carl Fraley, Growth Fund
Carl is a class of 2016 MBA candidate with an emphasis in finance. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from St. Olaf College. Prior to attending Carlson, Carl worked at Target Corp for 5 years. While there, he spent time as a business analyst in the portable electronics industry and as a manager with the stationery and seasonal divisions. During the summer between first and second year, Carl was a Commercial Finance Intern at L'Oreal USA in New York City. Upon graduation, Carl plans to pursue a career in corporate finance or corporate development.
Mathieu Froment, Fixed Income Fund
Mathieu is a 2016 Master of Accountancy candidate currently interning as an Investment Analyst at US Bank Private Client Reserve. He received his BSB from Carlson School of Management, where he received numerous academic and athletic accolades during his time as a student. For the summer of 2013, Mathieu interned for Banque de Luxembourg in Luxembourg City and he is pursuing a career in asset management.
Eric Gill, Growth Fund
Eric is a class of 2016 MBA candidate with a focus in finance. He graduated from St. John’s University with majors in accounting with a finance concentration and management. Prior to returning to school to pursue an MBA, Eric worked for UnitedHealth Group as a Senior Analyst on its venture team and as an Analyst on its corporate development team. After graduation, Eric is looking to pursue a career in private equity, investment banking, or corporate development.
Woojin Kam, Growth Fund
Woojin is a class of 2016 full time MBA candidate with a concentration in finance. He graduated from Purdue University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality & Tourism Management. Prior to attending the Carlson School, Woojin worked in accounting at Thomson Reuters in South Korea. Woojin is pursuing a career in corporate finance.
Kainan Ma, Fixed Income Fund
Kainan is a class of 2016 full time MBA candidate with an emphasis in strategy and finance. He graduated in 2005 from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications with a degree in information engineering. Prior to beginning the MBA program, Kainan worked in a managerial role at the Beijing Capital International Airport, in charge of internal IT consulting, strategy and customer service. After graduation, he plans to pursue a career in consulting, corporate IT and strategy.
Ngoc (Jenny) Nguyen, Growth Fund
Ngoc (Jenny) is a class of 2016 Master of Science candidate in Applied Economics. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. Prior to beginning her Master’s program, Jenny interned as a business analyst at Target Corporation. While pursuing her Master’s degree, Jenny is also working as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Minnesota Population Center and collaborates with faculty on various research projects. Upon graduation, Jenny will pursue a career in the financial service industry.
Kari O'Brien, Growth Fund
Kari O’Brien is a 2016 MBA candidate and full scholarship Forté Fellow specializing in Finance. She spent her summer interning with Robert W. Baird as a Summer Associate. As a first year, she interned with Greene, Holcomb and Fisher, LLC, a boutique investment bank. Kari received her bachelors in International Business from American University, with minors in chemistry and Mandarin. Prior to business school, she managed a marketing department in Washington, DC, and has four years of digital strategy experience in technology, life sciences and consumer marketing.
Punit Pallav, Fixed Income Fund
Punit Pallav is a class of 2016 MBA candidate at the Carlson school of management with an emphasis on finance and strategy. He has a B.Tech degree in Electronics Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology ( IIT ), Varanasi, India. Prior to Carlson, Punit spent seven years working in various software engineering and tech consulting roles in financial services industry for companies such as Blackrock and Deutsche Bank. After his MBA Punit is seeking a career in investment management, research or consulting.
Natalie Peikrishvili, Fixed Income Fund
Natalie Peikrishvili is a class of 2016 MBA candidate with an emphasis on finance. She holds a BBS degree in general business from Boise State University, with minors in finance and international business. Prior to attending the Carlson School, Natalie was a member of an investment team at D.B. Fitzpatrick & Co., an investment management firm in Boise, where she researched and traded equities in developed and emerging market economies. She also interned at Clearwater Analytics where she provided investment portfolio reporting and analytics to institutional investors. During summer 2015, Natalie interned in an investment banking analyst role at Lazard Middle Market in Minneapolis. Upon graduation, Natalie plans to pursue a career in financial services industry.
Shkamb Qavdarbasha, Growth Fund
Shkamb Qavdarbasha is a class of 2016 MBA candidate with a focus on finance. His background is in policy, more specifically media and energy sector policy analysis. Shkamb worked as an Equity Researcher in the energy and intellectual property sectors during the summer of 2015. Prior to the MBA, he served as a Business Development Specialist in an industrial engineering firm, focusing in new product development and product management. Shkamb plans to work in investment banking with a focus in emerging markets after graduation.
Tyler Scheidt, Growth Fund
Tyler is a class of 2016 MBA candidate at the Carlson School of Management with an emphasis on finance and strategy. He is a 2006 honor graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a B.S. in civil engineering. Prior to starting business school, Tyler served over seven years in the United States Army with experience leading cross-functional teams and managing a construction company with a multi-million dollar budget. He has deployed to Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan in support of both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon graduation, Tyler intends to pursue a career in corporate finance.
Dan Shofner, Growth Fund
Dan is a class of 2016 full-time MBA candidate at the Carlson School of Management with an emphasis in finance. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Physics and a minor in Mathematics. Prior to attending business school, Dan was in the Navy’s nuclear submarine program for six years. Upon graduation, Dan will pursue a career in corporate finance.

Joe is a class of 2016 MBA candidate at the Carlson School of Management with an emphasis in finance. He has a BA in finance from the University of Washington in Seattle. Before attending business school, Joe worked as an Associate Advisor at Paracle, a boutique wealth management firm in the Seattle area. After graduation, Joe is looking to pursue a career in investment banking.
John Thompson, Fixed Income Fund
John is a former U.S. Air Force pilot pursuing an MBA focusing on finance with the class of 2016. Prior to becoming an Air Force officer, he grew up in Cold Spring, MN, and received his undergraduate degree from the United States Air Force Academy. John is also a volunteer consulting Team Leader working on communication strategy for a Minneapolis based non-profit.
Chenzhong (Frank) Wu, Fixed Income Fund
Chenzhong (Frank) is a class of 2016 MBA candidate with an emphases in finance and accounting. He has a Master of Finance from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Hong Kong and BA in English from Sichuan International Studies University in China. Prior to the Carlson School, Frank worked as an equity salesman at Ping An Securities and UBS Securities. Upon graduation, Frank intends to pursue a career within M&A and equity Research.
Chia-Hao Yeh, Fixed Income Fund
Chia-Hao is a class of 2016 MBA candidate at the Carlson School of Management with an emphasis in finance. He has a Bachelor's degree in information and financial management from National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan. Prior to attending the Carlson School, he was a junior trader at an investment startup and a treasury operation analyst at CTBC bank in Taiwan. After graduation, Chia-Hao is interested in pursuing a career in financial service industry.
