Jerry Caruso, Managing Director, Carlson Funds Enterprise
Prior to joining the Carlson School, Jerry was a middle market investment banker with both mergers and acquisitions and broad capital markets expertise. He spent most of his 25-year career at Lazard Middle Market (formerly Goldsmith Agio Helms LLC) where he was a Managing Director. Other professional experience includes RBC Dain Rauscher, Coopervision, Inc., and JP Morgan. Jerry received his MBA from the University of Chicago and BA from Northwestern University.
Susanna Gibbons, CFA, Program Director, Carlson School Fixed Income Fund
Susanna previously led GBC Global Asset Management’s fixed income Credit Research Team. Susanna’s research responsibilities included banking, energy, finance, and utilities. She has extensive capital markets experience. Susanna joined RBC GAM in 2007 from Jeffrey Slocum & Associates, where she was the director of fixed income research. She also held several senior credit and portfolio management positions at The St. Paul Companies. Susanna began her career in the investment industry in 1985. She earned a BA from Bryn Mawr College and an MBA from the New York University Stern School of Business. Susanna is a CFA charterholder.
Kelly Vanda, Program/Project Specialist
Kelley Vanda is a new Program/Project Specialist in the Carlson Funds Enterprise (CFE). She helps keep the program organized by supporting Managing Director Jerry Caruso and Program Director Susanna Gibbons and other CFE faculty with administrative and project support. She previously was an administrative assistant in finance for Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. in New Brighton. She has a BS in communication with an emphasis in public relations from the University of North Florida.
Aamir Khan, Senior Lecturer
Aamir Khan has been with the Carlson School of Management as a finance faculty member since 2014. He has over ten years of teaching experience in the area of Corporate Finance and Investments. Since joining the Carlson School of Management, he has taught Fundamentals of Finance, Behavioral Finance, Advanced Derivatives and Corporate Finance courses to both undergraduate and graduate students. Aamir holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington, and his area of specialization and research interest includes: Business Valuation, Portfolio Management, Asset Pricing Models, Financial Market Contagion and Behavioral Finance.
Rick Nelson, Senior Lecturer
Rick Nelson is a Senior Lecturer in Finance and Director of Undergraduate Finance Programs, Department of Finance, Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. He joined the Carlson School of Management faculty in 1997 and has over fifteen years of experience teaching numerous International, Executive MBA, MBA, Undergraduate and Executive Education courses in Finance. Prior to joining the Carlson School of Management, Mr. Nelson held various senior management positions at companies such as ReliaStar Financial (now ING), MTS Systems Corp, and Lerch Brothers Inc. He received his BSB and MBA from the Carlson School of Management.
