The CIMBA program is located in the small Italian town of Paderno del Grappa at the base of majestic Mount Grappa, and shares use of the campus of Istituto Filipin, a private Italian boarding school. The campus offers students the cultural experience of living in a small Italian community while providing access to the celebrated art and historical treasures of the Veneto region.

Once an independent state known as the Venetian Republic, the Veneto region is among the wealthiest and most developed in Italy. Venice is its capital, and as such it's a popular tourist destination, with beautiful landscapes and a rich historic and cultural heritage.

The Consortium Institute of Management and Business Analysis (CIMBA) is comprised of a group of 35+ international member universities, led by the University of Iowa, who collectively provide significant support and guidance for CIMBA's academic programs. Because of the large number of schools providing high quality professors and the focus on teaching, CIMBA is uniquely suited to expand the learning environment to include small-group cooperative learning and experiential techniques that encourage self-discovery.

In addition to business courses, CIMBA's unique offerings include such subjects as music and communication studies.

To be eligible for this education abroad program, applicant must:

Students receive 6 Carlson School International Business credits for the CIMBA Summer program. All courses appear on the U of M transcript as resident credit with an A-F grade.

Knowledge, process, and leadership behavior represent the three pillars on which CIMBA courses are developed. The program uses a structured process to teach students the efficient use of rational managerial thought while providing a consistent approach to decision making and problem solving. Students choose two courses (3 credits each) from an offering of upper-division classes in business, economics, and communication studeies. Many classes include company tours and guest speakers.

Students live on campus in dormitory style housing. Single and double rooms are available; each option has a private bathroom. Students may request particular roommates through the roommate selection form; students with no roommate preferences will be assigned to all-male or all-female rooms. The program fee includes a meal plan for week days.

These estimates will vary based on student preference and exchange rates. All details subject to change based on economic and international factors. Most financial aid may be applied to study abroad programs.

Application materials include the online application form, a resume, and essay. Submit a completed application by the February 1 priority deadline of the academic year in which you wish to participate. Programs that do not fill following the priority deadline will be reviewed on a rolling-admissions basis.

Upon acceptance by the Carlson Global Institute, students will submit a second application to CIMBA.
