Carlson's small class size fit well with my development needs. I wanted to go to a school in which I could build a strong network whom I could rely on both professionally, and personally.

My Story

I come from the southern Indian city of Bangalore, known as India’s Silicon Valley. I earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from PES Institute of Technology with a major in computer science. Post-graduation, I began my career at JP Morgan as an analyst in their IT Risk and Security Management division. With a desire to experience a new industry, I then switched gears, and worked as a Business Analyst at Harman Kardon in their automotive division. I worked with automotive giants in the US, Germany, and India providing infotainment solutions to their vehicles.

In parallel, I decided to follow my passion for social impact by starting a non-profit organization called Anandjyot. Anandjyot serves as a platform that connects willing donors on one end with ratified non-profits on the other, solving a major problem of transparency in handling donor funds. One of our biggest success stories was supporting another non-profit, with their everyday needs for a year, and helping them till they secured a grant from the state government which made them self-sustainable.

In 2 years, I grew donations by 50% year-over-year. I continue to serve on the board, but have moved away from the day-to-day activities since the time I began my MBA here at Carlson.

I enjoy playing soccer, ping pong, engaging in good sports banter, and following Arsenal.

Why I Chose Carlson

There are 2 reasons why I picked Carlson. First, the Carlson Consulting Enterprise was a huge motivation for me to come to the school. My short-term interests include consulting and product management, and long-term career interests are in the areas of entrepreneurship and technology innovation. My conversations with current students and alumni helped me learn more about how the Enterprise provides the necessary tools, and helps develop the discipline and the rigor to succeed in ambiguous, demanding environments. Through projects for clients that span Fortune 500s, and small and medium sized business, the enterprise helps develop the structure, and the team-spirit required to solve complex business issues.

Second, Carlson's small class size fit well with my development needs. I wanted to go to a school in which I could build a strong network whom I could rely on both professionally, and personally. I realized that I could form meaningful relationships, and get to interact with everyone on a first-name basis if the program size was small. My time here at Carlson has more than proven me right. Carlson’s a tight-knit community, and I’ve felt everyone has been invested in my success. I feel confident that this support system will help me secure my short-term goals, and prepare me for long-term success.
