"I always wanted to be a part of a school that fosters as a community and believes in collaboration."

Your Story

I have always enjoyed problem-solving. While working as an associate consultant for an IT services multinational in India, like most of my peers, I wanted to grow in my career as a technical resource. Over time I realized that I enjoyed helping the client with conquering business problems. I always displayed innovative traits to simple problems and focused on reducing effort by leveraging available resources. This is when I felt the need of an MBA for a career that sits on the intersection of business, design and technology.

Why Carlson?

The main reason of choosing Carlson was the foundation of it's curriculum which is focused on leadership development through experiential learning and feedback-based coaching. I believed that it would give me an opportunity to put my theoretical knowledge to test in solving real-world corporate challenges, which it did. Carlson has a good reputation of students driven by passion and dedication. I always wanted to be a part of a school that fosters as a community and believes in collaboration. Carlson also has unparalleled connections with the business community in the twin-cities and widespread network of Alums in various industries and geographic locations. By being a part of this ever-growing network and community, I saw myself growing in my professional career.

A Day in the Life of a Carlson MBA Student

6.30 am - 7.30 am I don't even need alarm clocks any more, my body and mind are in sync with the MBA calendar. Get ready and take the 5-minute light rail to school.
7.45 am - 8.00 am Hangout in the MBA lounge. Take printouts of readings and slides for the next class.
8.00 am - 9.40 am Ventures Enterprise class. Learned about design thinking principles and created an innovative design for a simple product.
9.45 am - 10.00 am Enterprise team meeting. A quick touch base on upcoming client meeting later during the day.
10.15 am - 11.00 am Meeting with career coach at GBCC. Discussed current job interviews and developed a strategy to find the perfect role.
11.15 am - 12.00 pm Lunchtime - Quick break to catch up with friends. We take a walk to Afro Deli right across Hanson building for lunch. Time flies by pretty fast when friends are around
12.15 pm - 3.00 pm Go through emails and prep for the upcoming client meeting. Read a few articles for the next class.
3.20 pm - 5.00 pm Ventures Enterprise Client meeting - Take the light rail from West bank and head towards client location. Had a mid-point review meeting. Client seemed happy with our progress and was curious about our final deliverable/recommendation. Enterprise experience at Carlson has been the best so far.
5.15 pm - 5.30 pm Head back to school for a final night class
5.45 pm - 9.00 pm Technology Marketing class. Today we discussed about customer centricity in technology intensive markets followed by a good discussion on Rolm-sigma case from last week.
9.30 pm - 11.30 pm Done with the last class. Head back home, cook some Indian curry with rice and enjoy the last meal of the day. I make a long distance call to my wife back in India and answer a few emails before wrapping up my day. Finally, head to bed. The day has been exhausting but satisfying. I feel like I achieve something everyday.
