My Story

I love a good challenge…and solving it!  I am optimistic, enthusiastic and I like to learn new things.  After college, I spent six years growing sales for an entrepreneurial division of a local company.  My favorite parts were solving problems for my customers, creating internal solutions as the company grew and working with the innovative people in the science industries.  I realized that the best place to continue my pursuit of challenges and new knowledge was in the full-time MBA program at Carlson.  With my education in functional business skills and theory, I plan on continuing to focus on what I love by pursuing a career in strategy and general management at a global company that is passionate about meeting the needs of its customers.

Why Carlson

I chose Carlson for three reasons:

1)  The People:  I wanted classmates from diverse backgrounds with varied career interests, each who can teach me something.  My peers are my network, current and future.  I wanted to trust them, like them and learn from them.  That is exactly what I found at Carlson!

2)  Enterprises:  Guided, experiential learning.  Switching a career from “sales” to “strategy” requires more than just book learning.  I know that and so does every hiring manager out there.  The Carlson Consulting Enterprise (CCE) will get me the extra step from theory to reality, giving me the opportunity to work on three real projects, for real (paying!) customers during two and a half semesters.

3)  The Location:  Honestly, Minneapolis is a fantastic city.  It takes less than 30 minutes to travel from the hopping metropolis of the city to the farm fields, lakes and peace of the country.  My favorite poem, The Double Life, by Don Blanding, captures my contradictory wishes to be both a city-girl and a country-girl; and I can be both in Minneapolis.  …The extraordinary number of Fortune 500 companies is just a plus!
