Financial Aid

The University of Minnesota offers many loan programs, administered through the Office of Student Finance. To be considered, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). International students need a U.S. co-signer for student loans. The University has reciprocity agreements with the states of Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, and the province of Manitoba, Canada.

Internal Scholarship List

The Carlson School and the University of Minnesota award a number of academic merit-based fellowships and scholarships. The Full-Time MBA program automatically considers applicants for all scholarships for which they are eligible. Unless noted in the descriptions below, no special application is required for these scholarships; however, we urge candidates to submit their applications for admission by the first or second round deadlines for full consideration.

The Carlson School Dean's Fellow Scholarship

The Carlson School Dean's Fellow Scholarship

These awards are offered to top candidates from the Full-Time MBA applicant pool. The program is made possible by the Carlson School Dean's office to encourage attendance from students who will add to the high-caliber and diversity of the student body. The Dean's Fellow Scholarship Program provides a full tuition waiver as well as a stipend for living expenses.

The Carlson School Associate's Fellow Scholarship

The Carlson School Associate's Fellow Scholarship

The recipients of these scholarships are high ability students seeking admission to the Full-Time MBA program. The program is made possible by the Carlson School's leading corporate donors to encourage outstanding students to attend the school. A number of these awards are designated to high ability minority/disadvantaged candidates. The Associates program provides awards in varying amounts up to a full tuition waiver.

The Carlson School Scholarship for U.S. Military Veterans

The Carlson School Scholarship for U.S. Military Veterans

This scholarship is specifically for those who are currently serving in, or are veterans of, the U.S. military, this scholarship pays a stipend, in varying amounts, that can be used for any expenses related to study in the MBA program, including, but not limited to, tuition, required and optional fees, books, supplies, and living expenses.

3M MBA Fellowship

3M MBA Fellowship

The 3M MBA Fellowships are partial to full tuition scholarships awarded to up to three recipients with a minimum amount of $10,000 per award. Preferred candidates for these awards have a science and/or engineering background and wish to participate in either the Carlson Brand Enterprise or Carlson Consulting Enterprise. The award is renewable for the second year as long as the recipient is enrolled in one of the Carlson Enterprises and has maintained good academic standing.

Donaldson Company, the global leader in filtration solutions, offers this scholarship in the amount $16,000 per year for domestic students interested in some aspect of the global manufacturing environment, including finance, marketing, human resources, operations, or engineering.

Applicants should also demonstrate a commitment to women and girls through personal mentorship or community outreach. Forté Fellows will receive a full tuition waiver as well as a variety of leadership and career development opportunities.

NSHMBA is the "Premier Hispanic Organization." NSHMBA exists to foster Hispanic leadership through graduate management education and professional development in order to improve society. The NSHMBA UPP Scholarship was established to provide monetary support for outstanding students admitted to MBA programs who show potential for business leadership or ownership. Preference may be given but is not limited to students of Hispanic heritage or students with a demonstrated commitment to the Hispanic community.

Students may be eligible for company and individual scholarships and graduate assistantships that require special applications. Graduate assistantships are only available to second-year MBA students.
