Undergraduate Alumni (GOLD)

Gophers of the Last Decade (GOLD) is a subset of alumni relations at the Carlson School that is specifically for recent graduates of the undergraduate program.

Led by a board of alumni volunteers, GOLD sponsors events throughout the year with the goal of connecting alumni to students, the Carlson School, and one another.  GOLD also participates in the Carlson School mentorship program, welcomes incoming freshmen to the Carlson School during Welcome Week, and congratulates graduating senior on their entrance in to the alumni community.

GOLD creates an inclusive culture of Carlson School pride and tradition, life long learning, and stewardship for recent alumni of the undergraduate program.

Who is the GOLD Board?

Dino Bilankov
’11 BSB
Dino is a private equity professional at Diamond Castle Holdings in New York City. As a Carlson School student, he played tennis for the University of Minnesota varsity team and served as a peer career coach at the Undergraduate Business Career Center. In addition to the GOLD board, he serves on the New York Regional Alumni Board where he focuses on working with students and alumni interested in the investment banking industry. In his free time, Dino plays guitar, loves to travel, and maintains an active lifestyle by playing tennis and golf.

Jessica Chung
’11 BSB
Since graduating Jessica has pursued her passion for developing students by obtaining her master's in college student personnel from Bowling Green State University. She has since returned to the University of Minnesota as an educator. She loves “walk and talks,” coffee, and helping people find their passions.

Jenna Duesterhoeft
’09 BSB
Jenna has worked in the logistics function of General Mills since graduating from the Carlson School in 2009. Through her work with GOLD, she serves on the undergraduate activities committee. In her free time, she likes to cook and bake, blog, personal train, lead city running tours, travel the world, run, explore the Minneapolis restaurant scene, and enjoy time in the sunshine.

Inge Groth
‘12 BSB, Marketing & Entrepreneurial Management
Inge is a marketing business analyst at General Mills, working on Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and the Puff Brands.

Marysa Lai
’12 BSB, Accounting & Finance
Marysa  works at PwC in Minneapolis. She loves to travel, visit new restaurants, and sample wines.

Maggie ManteuffelI
’08 BSB
Maggie resides in Wausau, Wis. with husband Adam, and recently accepted a new role as the eCommerce marketing manager for Her personal interests include unicorns, glitter, and Chipotle.

Randall Mendenhall
’07 BSB, Marketing
Randall’s professional interests include marketing strategy, branding, and product development and the power of video in marketing. Outside of work, he enjoys playing and watching sports (especially Golden Gopher athletics), gaming, animation, and science fiction movies.

Manu Narayanan
’13 BSB, Finance
Manu is a financial analyst at General Mills in the Small Planet Foods Division. Manu is an avid traveler and actively seeks new adventures around the world.

Jesse Ng
'11 BSB
Jesse serves on the GOLD board to encourage Carlson School students as they traverse through the exciting challenges and opportunities of their academic careers. He loves traveling, running, and exploring the Twin Cities.

Caitlin Opatz
’12 BSB, Marketing
Caitlin works in the sourcing department of Target Corp. As a Carlson School student, she served as a mentor in the First Generation Mentorship program, and guided first-year students as a Welcome Week and orientation leader.

Nick Pilger
’10 BSB, Public and Nonprofit Management & Human Resources
Nick is a senior manager of Relay For Life for the American Cancer Society where he has been pursuing his lifelong passion of finishing the fight against cancer for more than three years.

Sam Tashima
’09 BSB
As a consultant and actuary for Aon, Sam leads actuarial projects, assists clients in their insurance renewal process, and manages the client experience in regard to actuarial projects. He is currently enrolled in the Part-Time MBA program at the Carlson School and plans to complete the program in December 2016. Aside from work, Sam enjoys running, tennis, fantasy football, and reading.

Jorden Taveirne
’11 BSB, Finance & International Business
Jorden is a financial analyst at General Mills who develops pricing and merchandising strategy for Yoplait. As a student, she studied abroad in both Venezuela and Spain, and was involved in Women in Business, SAFA, and Delta Sigma Pi.

Eric Wadsten
’10 BSB, Supply Chain and Operations
Eric has been involved in the GOLD Board since its inception in 2011 and currently serves as president. He spent the first three years of his career as a business technology consultant at Baker Tilly, and now works as a sales engineer at SPS Commerce. In his free time, Eric enjoys reading, road biking and spending time with his fiancé and 8-year-old black lab.

Carolyn Watkins
'12 BSB, Public and Nonprofit Management & International Business
Carolyn currently works at Room & Board and lives in Minneapolis.

Eric White
’13 BSB
Eric works in finance at Target Corp., where he forecasts enterprise financials and supports the company's community relations team. He is a member of the GOLD Board Student Engagement committee. As a student at the Carlson School, he was deeply involved in academics, student life, and recruitment.
